Freaking out?
Oh what have I started? I sewed babe together this evening and still I have no maternal instincts for her. Her head looks oddly shaped, I wasn't sure if I was over or understuffing her and those white felt eyes are just not right! Help....fellow sucessful babe knitters please advise? Will I like her more once she has hair and eye's have stitching (no i didn't sew on yet cause I just was not convinced that placement would be right on an unstuffed head, hoping to whip stitch edges on stuffed head.) Will she be better with clothes. Yes I am a newish knitter and I did love knitting her, but she is full of imperfections of form. Does everyone else's doll look as perfectly symetrical as the unclothed doll in the book?
Now grant it I did use blue sky alpaca to knit her, on size 2 U.S needles. Her measurements are about the same as those shown in the book. (though they don't say her crown will be 3 inches across but at her eye's it will be 4!!) I can only hope that we will bond and that I won't be having to knit 10 of her before one is web posting worthy. Sorry to need handholding, any will be appreciated. She has been fun so far but represents no small amount of time invested thus far. Nervous "mum" in Idaho.

Just go with whoever she turns out to be. That is the fun. I found it was easier to apply her eyes AFTER her head was stuffed. Don't worry about where it says the eyes should be placed, put them on her face and see what looks correct on her, then sew those babies on. Its like there is a person waiting to arrive and you don't know them til the Babe is finished. Who knows, she may be a little strange. Just have fun and see who you get.

take a look at the dolls on this blog - remember to go backwards in the archive (the last months) to see more.
They are very different - my doll, Lola, has a very wide head - she looked strange before she got hair.
Can we have a picture ? There are several of unfinished dolls at this blog.
