We're at it again...

A second Babe challenge has been extended, this time from me, Marti, to Purl. Included in this challenge packet are: 1 kerchief, two clothes pins, two chop sticks, three fabric remnant strips, embroidery floss, a package of seam binding lace, two decorative tassels, eleven pearly buttons and half of the fake flower petals each. I basically went a huntin' in my stash o' stuff and came up with whatever I had two of. The cost had to remain quite low, since Purl's challenge only cost a dollar. Factoring in the two kerchiefs and the fake petals, I think I maxed out at $1.50. The challenge is therefore underway, though I don't think either of us have made much progress! (I haven't at least). This one may take a little while longer, and as such, no closing date has been set. Stay tuned for the reveal either here, or on my brand new blog. Now that it's been posted, I may be motivated to finish it. Until later...

Oh, I'm very excited to see what you two will come up with. Those petals will be fun!
This whole babe challenge thing reminds me of Project Runway. And I LOVE Project Runway!
I love this idea too and I'm wondering if at some point we could extend a challenge across everyone in the knitalong? We see so many different Babes, but no one has really focused on the fashions or made multiple outfits for their Babes. I'll start brainstorming...
Yes, we had wanted to extend the challenge to others as well but were kind of stymied as to how to gather together the materials and how to get them to other people...lots of duplicates necessary and of course the shipping involved. Luckily, Purl and I live pretty close and know each other very well, so we can play dolls whenever we want! Perhaps a kind of swap might work, like one or two items that someone would have to incorporate in an outfit rather than many.
Or the challenge could have a theme that we have to design around- like for example, summer's coming- maybe we could do swimwear? just an idea...
Good thoughts! I really like the idea of themes too. I was gifted some fabric recently that screams 80's and I would love to see how everyone interpreted this.
One of the cornerstones of the craft challenge that Marti and I have going is to use shared elements; but just because we do doesn't mean that we are stuck on that, particularly if it means that more people get to play!
I haven't even finished one doll haha. Crochet has kept me busy lately, but I think this sounds like fun to have sort of a scavenger hunt for materials then build with it.
I did this once on a dollhouse miniatures list. We were given a list of 15 items/supplies, it was up to us to purchase (or dig up from our own supplies) the same items and take a photo of them all gathered.
Then we made our project, detailing how we used each item in the finished thing.
No shipping that way and everyone picked their own colors that way too, and in some cases a few substitutions had to be made due to what was (or wasn't!) found in each craft shop in the various country/locations around the world :) (Go go run on sentance!)
