Hey there. I'm new to the blog and the world of blogging at large and am so excited to have discovered this little Babes community. I picked up the book purely by chance while shopping for a birthday present for myself and haven't stopped knitting yet.
So without further ado, allow me to introduce my babes. On the top is Langley, on the bottom is Xanadu. Langley was my first babe and her body is knit out of Patons Kroy sock yarn and she is a little small. Her hair is two shades of Patons Canadiana and I have no idea where her sweater yarn came from. It was among the bits and pieces in my stash. As you may be able to see in the picture, Langley is a knitter herself and rarely travels too far without a project.
Xanadu was knit out of Patons Astra yarn, (apparently I have an affinity for Patons yarns) and I like her size a bit more. The templates for the facial features seem to fit her head better. Langley's eyes are a bit huge. As you may be able to tell, I tinkered with the eyes a bit. I added eyelids and lashes. My boyfriend finds the babes terribly creepy, so I tried to remedy that with eyelids, but to no avail. He still threatens a terrible demise should he find the babes coming after him in his sleep, which he believes they are capable of.
Xanadu's sweater is a Bernat baby yarn, as are her socks. I shortened the sleeve length on the hoodie by about ten rows or so, otherwise they would've been ridiculously long. I also fashioned some sneakers for her. She's a grad student, so her style is very max-relax. I'm not sure of the yarn that I used for her hair. But whatever it is, it's very soft and has a bit of sparkle to it! Very pretty.
There is a third babe on the way, almost complete, but she is destined for a friend of mine to play and create with. Perhaps we shall see her in a future post. There are also a couple of neices that will be getting a babe in the not too distant future, so I'm sure we'll meet them before they ship off to their new homes. Until then...
