"Least Appealing" update...

I joined in on the "Use your least appealing stash yarn" challenge laid down by Julia and just recently saw a new comment posted with regards to our progress. Just thought I would post a little update as to how I'm getting along with it!

As always, I must apologise for the craptastic quality of my photo...the lighting in my place is poor to begin with and it's threatening rain, so the natural light isn't co-operating either.
I chose this peachy coloured, Dollarama acrylic yarn for my challenge because I originally intended to use it for a Babe, but then became disenchanted with it. Too peachy perhaps? Not sure. But, when I started knitting with it, I started to dislike it less and now actually am fond of the way it's turning out. Anyhow, this is how far along I am with my project and included in the photo is what's been keeping me from completing my challenge! (I like to block stuff on my fouton as you can stick pins in it and it doesn't matter...at least not to me anyway).
I thought I would conjure up a whole new babe with one unappealing yarn and see what else I could use to craft an outfit. So no worries Julia, if you're not done by the end of the month! Summers are kinda busy and I'm not sure if I'll get an outfit together for this chick in the next week. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you've come up with though! Post when you can post!
Until later...

The princesses are coming

For those of you in the know...my 2 girls are obsessed with The Little Mermaid and Cinderella, respectivly. Cinderella is on the needles and I just have to finish up the hair on Ariel. Mwahahahaha....

Let's do the Poodle Walk ...

Remember the Lolly twins? Outfits were sewn and sent to me from Sammie in Naples, Florida ... for Lola Lolly. She made one to match for Lola's sister, Lucy who's lives down in Naples with Sammie.
I just LOVE this outfit so much!

Here's Lola dressed in Style ...
Oh ya, and that bag laying next to her is the storage bag Sammie made for her ... but I think I'll just put her clothes away in it instead.

And have Lola sitting in a place of honor in my bedroom ...
Well now it's time to put my toys away ...

Hunter Green Challenge

Well, I've been knitting for less than a year, but I already find myself with a knitting bag full of extra yarn.
I need to use up my stash!
So that's the theme of the challenge I've given myself (and I invite anyone out there to do as well, of course... ).
You simply look in your stash of yarn, pick the least appealing one (for my project it's this hunter green yarn), and design around that one, and make it look great, no matter what the yarn is.
You can use other colors of course, but you can only use yarn that you already have in your stash.
Anyone interested in joining me on this one?
And we'll post the results?

BTW, if anybody's interested in seeing how dorky somebody can get about dolls, check out my Babeblog at
http://juliasbabeworld.blogspot.com.
But they're for my baby, I swear!

Hair is done

I haven't named the doll yet, but I did finish her hair last night. She hasn't got a mouth, still have to go get some pink felt for that. I really dread making more of those arms and legs hehe

The yarn for the body and hair is some I hand dyed a while back. It's KnitPicks yarn they sell for dying purposes. I dyed some up in a neon blue as well, I'm using it for her swimsuit.

The back of her:
First Doll, backside

The front of her:
First Doll, hair and eyes

Jo Star Glow

1 th of Juin Jo Star Glow was born i a beautiful small town in Denmark. She loves pastels and things with star glow - like her little handbag in silver with inner fabric that matches her dress….

She now lives together with a 5 year old princess called Josephine….

Jo has her own bed with cushions and bedspread made of Designers Guild fabric – yes she likes to be surrounded with beautiful things…

Jo's wardrobe has grown since this photo was taken and she now own a beautiful tu-tu, a lovely knitted dress with matching panties and a warm sweater. Pictures will be added as soon as possible...

Finished my first Knitted Babes!

So I present to you; Lola and Lucy Lolly.
The Lolly Twins!

They're in their bathing suits in this pictures and waiting for their accessories before taking a trip to Florida for swimming and fun in the sun. Whoopee !!

I just loved making these girls! Lola has her hair in pigtails but they can both also wear it down or in ponytails. [I ended out keeping Lucy's hair in ponytails with Lola wearing the pigtails.] When they let their hair down, it's "wild" and that's the way they like it when they're in the mood. I used Knit Picks' Radiance Wave for their hair. That's 77% Superfine Alpaca & 23% Silk. Only the best for my girls! Their bodies are peach cotton Sugar N' Cream and whatever I had for their clothes & accessories beside the Knit Picks Palette yarn which is Peruvian wool.

Lucy Lolly is on her way to Florida.

Let me explain that Lucy really did go to Florida to be with my friend, Sammie in Naples. She was all dressed for the trip in a blue & yellow sun dress, floppy hat, mules & a pink handbag with her map of Florida ready. Her swimsuit & duck float were all packed in her bags with her slides & hair pieces. Can't leave home without those, right? She even has a backpack.

Sammie is sewing up more outfits for the girls, while I'll be knitting some more. They'll have a wardrobe! We're just big kids at heart, I guess.

Bye, bye, Lucy I'll miss ya! Lola will be down to visit someday soon.

Stop by and visit me anytime at the Home of the StitchingNut ...
