a 71 year old Babe!

Hi,

Here's my latest creation....named "Rita." She's 71 and she is an example of wellness and good health. She shops at farmer's markets and walks her dog regularly. BTW I did not make the dog.

I love the sweater. Do you by chance have the pattern for that?

Hi

Thanks for the comments. I actually made the sweater up as i knit. as i recall, i started by c/o 18 stitches. I created ribbing at the bottom hem by k2, p2 for about 5 rows...then i knit up the back. what you could do is follow the pattern in the book for the cardigan, but make it a little longer and instead of adding buttons and button holes, just make a belt like i did---the belt is done in seed stich---c/o 4 stitches, k1, p1, k1, p1 on the first row, second row is p1, k1, p1, k1 and then repeat these two rows until the belt is the length you want. i created a button hole by slipping one stitch where i wanted the hole and then on the next row c/o a new stitch where the hole is. hope that helps!

I would really like the pattern for the pants! They are adorable. Is that seed stitch? Do you have the pattern from the book on the Flamenco Frill Top? Do you mind giving that to me also? I have been borrowing my friend's Knitted babes book and she is out of town.

Hi,

I made up the pattern for the shorts. Yes, it's done in seed stitch. All i remember is that I cast on 36 (since the body front and back are each 18 stitches), then i did some ribbing for maybe rows, and then did seed stitch until i thought the short legs should start. at that point i put 9 stitches on a stitch holder (to keep them out of the way) and continued knitting on the remaining 9 stitches until i thought the shorts were the right length. then i went back to the stitch holder, put those stitches back on a needle and continued for the second leg. i repeated this for the back and then sewed up the sides and the inseams.

Here's the frill top pattern:
starting with the back, c/o 100 stitches.
Work in k1, p1 rib for 6 rows.
Knit 10 rows.
Dec row: k2tog all the way across (50 sts).
K8 rows.
Dec row: k2tog all the way across (25 sts)*. Bind off. Work front as back to *.
Front straps: bind off 2 sts, k4 including st used to bind off, turn and work these 4 sts in St for 30 rows. Bind off.
Rejoin yarn, bind off 13 sts, k to end.
Next row: Bind off 2 sts, k to end (4 sts).
Work remaining 4 sts to match first strap.

Finishing: Sew side seams. Tie straps around back of the neck.
